Georgian Numbers 0–20 with Audio and Counting Practice

Read Georgian numbers from zero to twenty, listen to the available recordings for zero to nine, and practice recognizing numbers in a story.

Learn to recognize Georgian numbers from zero to twenty, then see them in sentences from Tbilingo’s counting story. Recordings are available for the individual numbers zero to nine; the remaining table entries have text and reading hints.

Georgian numbers from 0 to 20

Begin with zero to five. Play a recording, repeat the word, and then hide the Georgian column while looking at the numeral. Learning small groups makes it easier to notice which words you can recall and which need another pass.

Practice recall in both directions

Counting from one to ten is one kind of practice. Recognizing a number outside that sequence is another. Alternate between seeing “4” and saying its Georgian word, and seeing ოთხი and recalling its value.

Next, mix up 2, 5, 3, and 8. A word you can recall in a random order is more useful than one you only remember after counting from the beginning.

Hear numbers inside a story

In Niko in the Park, Niko describes the things around him. These sentences use two, three, and four. Listen for the number before looking at the English line.

Niko in the Park — excerpt · 1

პარკში არის ორი დიდი ხე.

In the park are two big trees.

Niko in the Park — excerpt · 2

ხეზე ზის სამი ჩიტი.

On the tree sit three birds.

Niko in the Park — excerpt · 3

ბალახზე დარბის ოთხი ძაღლი.

On the grass run four dogs.

The complete counting story continues through ten. Hearing numbers in context is a useful next step after reviewing the table.

Try a short number check

  1. What number is სამი?
  2. Which word in the table means seven?
  3. How many trees are in the story excerpt?
  4. Which is larger: ათი or ხუთი?
Show the answers
  1. Three.
  2. შვიდი (shvidi).
  3. Two big trees: ორი დიდი ხე.
  4. ათი is ten, which is larger than five.

Continue with the numbers course

Use the table as a reference while you practice in Tbilingo. The numbers course presents flashcards in short sessions and saves your progress. Return to a completed course for review, then use the counting story to read familiar words in longer sentences.
